Okay, so the Mark Teahen to the White Sox deal is curiously stuck in trade limbo. Is is simply a case of waiting for Chris Getz to pass a physical? Is it a matter of the Royals kicking in some cash to make the deal? Are there prospects involved?
I am taking the stance that all this 'smoke' must be coming from a pretty fair sized 'fire' and as such that this deal will eventually happen.
Taking that assumption let's have a little fun:

To be fair, Roberts returned for a partial season in AAA at age twenty-five and put up a line of .315/.401/.399/.800.

Roberts had already logged 113 games in the majors in 2001 and 2002, but 2003 was basically his first year of regular duty, so that seems to be pretty comparable to Getz's true rookie season.
Am I saying that Chris Getz is the next Brian Roberts? No, but it is interesting to note that Roberts came into the majors without a particularly impressive resume, either.

Other than saving M and praying that we catch lightning in a bottle their is no upside to this trade. Well, I guess it gives GMDM his barely disguised desire to bench/trade Callaspo.
I see Josh Fields as a DH-platoon versus LHP at best. I would non-tender Mike Jacobs and sign either Nick Johnson, Aubrey Huff, or Xavier Nady with the money saved by the Teahen trade and non-tendering Mike Jacobs. That would provide some experience in the order and would reduce the necessity for either Josh Fields or Alex Grodon to have a breakout year. The Royals should be able to sign any of those tree players to a contract around the neighborhood of 2/10 to 2/12. Unfortunately, I see GMDM going after a player like Corey Patterson instead.
Callaspo provides some depth and leverage at the DH/Infield Platoon area. I would not deal him UNTIL I signed one of the above players.
