Giving GMDM a pass because after four years he has three guys performing well in the minors is silly. The guy was not brought here to just restock the farm system. He has to stock the the big club too. And the big club has not improved one bit in that time. And he has made one boneheaded decision after another at the major league level.

After four years all he has at the minor league level is two guys who are doing very well at AA, but they just got there. He has one guy kicking butt in High A ball. That's it boys. He has some other highly touted guys (Myers and Melville) who aren't living up to their billing yet. And to be fair he has several other promising pitchers at High A and AA ball.

The biggest thing he has done is getting the Glass family to understand that they have to spend money on amateur talent. And that is no small achievement.

Camel has a point... GMDM's top priority when he got here was to build the system that had been neglected for the previous decade. He's definitely made progress. And at this point, it's the only thing in his "positive" column. He gets credit because he assembled the support staff, the scouting and the budgets.

camel--why would Moore get any credit for a "top rated" farm system. How can you avoid "the" top rated farm system when you finish last or near last every single year for a decade and a half? What does GMDM have to do with that?

When the Royals have a top rated farm system come October, maybe Moore will get some credit. Will that equate to wins? I can't say, but its an improvement.

Gosh!

What a start to the 10 day span that Bob Dutton has succinctly portrayed as "Opportunity knocking or Undertaker cometh"!

An absolutely dire performance completely devoid of any spark or zest peaking in its depths in the top half of the seventh with Josh Rupe bailing out of the top of Hillmans "go to" list from the bullpen!

Can it get any worse? Thompson,Tejeda & Hughes are the only ones to evoke my confidence at the moment in what are bound to be more troubled waters ahead if the main body of the team dont pick it up & start doing the FUNDAMENTALS quickly!

sadly, a 5 min. conversation indicates the degree to which Hillman is conceptually challenged. I'd guess that Hillman on a daily basis struggles to keep things straight. I'd think his good intentions/lousy execution involve numerous complexities but certainly failure to associate cause and effect. The consistently incorrect intuitiveness--e.g. always choosing the wrong reliever/failing to understand who'se got it today in the bull pen etc. result from the mental deficiencies. Basically the good fellow is in way way over his head.

On a side note, anybody notice in the Royals photos in the Star how out of shape this team is compared to the other team. We're back to the buddy bell saga of being (excepting Podzednick) unable to find a muscle on a Royals player with a search warrant. This is other than a "conditioning" organization, and for that reason alone they will never compete.

People have been saying wait until next year (or 2 years) or (3 years) for the last 15 years. All 2003 did was provide false hope in a weak division. When are you guys going to understand that the Royals are not going to contend next year, or the year after, or the year after that as long as the current management team is in place.

Moore has had 3 years, and Hillman 2 1/2 and there is absolutely zero improvement with this team. In fact, they are as bad, or worse, as they were when the three stooges came together. And that is with some of the high-valued prospects that are supposed to make the team better.

Waiting one more year, or 2 more years, or 3 years, will just provide more years of what we already have, and delay any real progress that much longer.

Moore and Hillman both need to go. The Royals will never be a .500 team as long as either one of them are around.

Re: Kila... if you want to make this move, just put Butler in at 1B, lose the DH and be willing to pinch hit for the pitcher's spot if necessary. Use a pitcher to pinch run if you need to a runner.

I do think the Royals are a better team than their record shows and I think those problems go directly to the coaching staff. I think GMDM is making the right long term moves, his short term fixes (partly born of desperation) have not been so good - but Kendall and Podsednick have helped more than they have hurt. I hope GMDM corrects Trey for throwing Billy under the bus--- you NEVER hear a manager do that - but NOSOTROS CREEMOS anything is possible with Trey - except righting the ship.
