Agreed on letting Tejada pitch the 8th. This notion that bp guys have to have very specifically defined roles is non-sense, especially when same guys have struggled. Sure, you don’t use your long-relief guy in the 8th, but go with matchups or hot hand once in a while. This idea that you have to use very specifically defined roles gives managers excuse when things don’t work out.

Yuni has better range than Desmond (I say this knowing his UZR and other metrics say Desmond is far superior) but his range was horrible in this series and 2b take your pick Kennedy/Guzman bad thats 2 bad middle MI’s defensively and Dunn isn’t saving any errant throws at 1b for sure

I thought Roys had a nice approach to Strasburg, go with pitch- dink and dunk- we’re not going to turn on him and go deep so take what he gives and let Banny do his thing
Guillen great throw (he was safe but Jose did his job and allowed us to catch a break)
I go no complaints here on this one

Wow I had no idea that Aviles was that good against righties…Moustakas has to be called up soon. I think that they probably just want to showcase Callaspo or something because Moustakas will probably be up to stay. Why they would show case a guy is a utility player is beyond me though.

Alex –

This front office seems to hold Callaspo in very little regard. In this past offseason, they went out and acquired Getz and Josh Fields, both of whom play the two positions that Callaspo does. I’m fairly positive, as I would guess that Clark is as well, that they will find a way to either bury Callaspo on the bench (since Willie has the utility role down) or will have traded him by that point in time.

No room for Callaspo in the lineup come September 2011? Even with/without Callaspo that has the makings of a pretty solid lineup. Let’s hope the pitching comes along equally by then.

Firstly congratulations on your Country getting to the last 16 of the World Cup!

Chris Getz has actualy quietly upped his batting average recently & whilst he’s obviously not the threat Aviles is i think you do have to give these bench players a decent game every now & then,we will never really be able to confidently ascertain whether his defensive skills will be of any use to us otherwise!

As said before probably prudent to not push it with his arm & he hasnt been playing that well that he absolutely cant be rested!

The form of Getz & Betamit means its not looking good for opportunities at the plate for Wee Willie however…..
