Not that this means anything but they only have 39 guys on their 40 man roster as of today……could this be a strategical move for the upcoming deadline? Its sad that Ankiel will come back and get back in the mix. I would love to see like a weeks worth of no production and then a DFA. We all know that won’t happen.

Maybe if Ankiel comes up, they’ll deal or cut someone in the outfield. Possibly Maier. Not that I’d want Ankiel over Maier, but maybe it would allow them to bring up Kila as well.

I still think the signing was one of the better of the off-season. Low-risk, low-cost, possible power. Its a fine signing. But at this point we know that Ankiel is absolutely terrible at both the plate and in the field and therefore we should cut bait.

The only thing Royals fans should be worrying about is the teams total lack of run production,especially of late!

Will Ankiel’s presence make a significant difference to that run production?

No!……….Move on….

The funny thing is that IIRC, the Ankiel signing was the BEST-received of Dayton Moore’s off-season moves.
