Nick, if you were pods, wouldn’t you want to have a chance to play with a winning team, maybe like the white sox? I know I would. Royals…shooting for .500 next year would be a good goal.

I wouldn’t be so sure that podsednik would decline arbitration. I would be extremely scared of what the arbitors would award him. The elias rankings love guys with skills like pods.

Posednik has such a club friendly contract. He will definitely decline next year’s contract and probably reject arbitration. He is a Type B free agent. I would only trade him if we get a supplementary draft pick type of player back. Otherwise, no thank you. Keep Posednik and go for a draft pick in 2011. At least we can select good players in the draft.

but what about when pods gets a single, then gets picked off, then kendall has a weak fly out and then butler mashes a double? There are lots of scenarios that are possible. But I don’t think it is much of a question that pods kills us on the basepaths.

i agree about getz…but bettencourt and/or avilles is in his way….but i must still stay with wayland on this one…if he doesn’t try to get to 2nd,,,kendall will hit the weak fly ball, then butler will ground into a double play…and i am also a kendall supporter..but not hitting 2nd

I would say that it actually compounds the problem, because our run scoring opportunities are so rare, that a guy giving away outs on the basepaths is much more damaging than for a team which is likely to score a lot of runs anyway.

But he doesn’t steal 71% of the time he is on base. He is only on second 71 % of the times he tries to steal and the other times he is out.

I don’t really think there is two ways around the fact that podsednik absolutely kills this team on the basepaths. Ozzie guillen predicted it would happen after seeing him in chicago. His MO is to get on base and then try his hardest to steal a base, but get picked off and thrown out in the process.

Podsednik shouldn’t have to steal merely because this team is full of singles hitters and no good on base guys. If you want to see a guy who is good on the bases, watch Chris Getz. He knows what he is doing and is actually fast.

And gordons is a much better hitter than podsednik already in his career. His career numbers are pretty much better than podsednik across the board.
