I am quite pleased that they signed Yost through 2012. The team has responded to him positively, they are playing hard, and his efforts are being rewarded. Plus, this allows Yost to commit to the youth movement and lets the Royals see what they have in some of these younger players.

It is about time that the Roayls find out what Kila can do. They lack an impact power bat in the lineup, and Kila has a shot at being that. Looking at how the Royals kept burying him, I was fully expecting that they would get rid of him for almost nothing or release him, as the Twins did with Ortiz. Now, in no way is this stating that I expect Kila to become Big Papi, but thus far there are similarities.

I give Moore credit for the trades he made. Even though the system has a lot of good young arms in it, you can never have enough. Collins may be the set-up man that they have been looking for to get to Soria, even if he is a bit unconventional due to his size. Looking at his statistics and projections, he may actually be major league ready for the start of next season.

I have two concerns with these trades however. First, I have a suspicion that Moore is expecting Gregor Blanco to be the Royals leadoff hitter next season and going forward. Hopefully this is not the case, as he seems like a solid fourth outfielder type, but not an everyday player on a good club. Essentially, I see a lot of Scotty Pods in him, albeit at a lower salary. Secondly, even though Collins does not have any history of injuries, I do have concerns on how his body will hold up. Someone that small throwing in the mid 90's does make me worry about wear and tear on the arm and shoulder.

Finally, Bob - I'm a Royals fan living in the heart of Sox country. Welcome aboard. It'll be nice to see someone else wearing the powder blue.

So, Sprewell, you wouldn't play Kaa'ihue? Or in discussion of the future not mention the guy in AAA with the .460 on-base percentage? I guess we could analyze Jose Guillen's at-bats pitch by pitch...that might be almost as useful as the Royals continuing to play him.

I'm with Clark on this one. How can anyone say they're not at least curious to see what Kila can do up here after seeing how he's played in Omaha? This is the year to find out if he can do it or send him on his way. Getting the AB's here and seeing him flame out is still better than leaving him down, trading him to the Yankees and watching him hit .330 with 42 HR and 150 RBI, which you just know would be our luck.

Braves fan here who also likes the Royals (did a stint at Offutt in the 80s and saw many a game in KC). Blanco is a scrappy guy who will give you all he's got. He was sort of a forgotten guy in AAA who got a chance earlier this year when McLouth went out with an injury. He played a lot better than his earlier stints in ATL. Ultimately he's a 4th OF but he's a good guy to have around.

Collins is the gem (relatively) in this deal. Chavez will seduce you with an outing or two and then cough up 3-4 runs. Awesome stuff - hasn't been able to harness it.

Ankiel, and especially Farnsworth, are good fits for the Braves. Kyle takes Chavez's spot in the bullpen making it a definite upgrade on what is already a fabulous crew.

Ankiel isn't so great but he is an upgrade in CF (yes, our OF is THAT bad).

We are a 1984 young SP invasion away from mattering. I think offensive pieces are in oplace with tweaks, not a great offense but good enough for a pitching first team. We now wait for Sabes-Jackson and Gooby to emerge from AA

Betemit is only 28 - don't rule him out of 3b. He's basically Callaspo with more pop. Ideally a utility hammer but he might be peaking for a 4 year run (or he could go back to being who he used to be)

Kila has to play, Getz needs to play more just to see-he's been nice lately with consistent time, Manny Pina I want up to catch some, and more OF ala Paraz/Lough or Derrick Robinson, Gordon is about to go all Butch Davis here, we have interesting bullpen arms with Collins arriving along with our 4th rd pick and the kid we just brought up- for the first time this season I am interested in the Royals as a baseball team
