He already had a deal in place and signed within 24 hours of when the Royals released him. He would never come back here, and I don’t blame him.

I’m fine with Pena and May next year. For 2011, there’s no need to spend money on much of anything really, unless it’s a long term deal for Butler–even that can wait a year though.

Olivo has a cannon for an arm, and Buck as a noodle arm. Buck is a wall of a backstop, and Olivo is not. Kendall was not an upgrade over either, but his salary was supposed to be less.

Pena, May, and Pina should be servicable enough behind the plate for 2011. In 2012, Perez and Myers could possibly be knocking at the door.

I’d rather see what Pena and May can do. It wouldn’t surprise me if Pena equaled the output that buck could put out in a full season.
