Kendall was reacting to a question that NW did not ask. So he was wrong on that front. Kendall interrupted an interview he had no part in. So he was clearly wrong on that front. Kendall’s response was crass, factually wrong, and overtly agressive towards NW. So he was clearly wrong on that front as well.

NW’s question was legitimate. Mous is going to start the year in the minors regardless of whether of not he is ready to play. That will cost Mous a very valuable year of FA. The Royals will game the system and cost Mous a lot of money. That is a completely legitimate topic to ask about. I’d be mad if that happened to me.

I don’t know quite how to feel on this… I agree with most of the comments here that Kendall would best serve the organization by retiring and allowing the team to get a good look at the younger guys.

However, I absolutely despise the public persona of Nick Wright. Whether Kendall was being sarcastic, protective or just ornery, it give me great pleasure to see someone stand up to Nick Wright and call him out for what is either a softball or a stupid question.

I don’t know if has been mentioned, but at the end of the interview Moustakas says something to the effect of – we’ll talk later. Like, when Kendall isn’t around. That to me shows the class of a young player like Moose versus the classless veteran, Kendall.

I understand what Kendall is trying to do. Protect the young guy, give the reporter some guff, be Johnny Clubhouse. Instead Jason Kendall comes off as a huge turd that needs to be flushed.

This spat was even covered by a radio station (93x) in the Twin Cities this morning. Good grief!

I don’t think the original question was dumb or provocative. It was a softball question, set up for your cliche ‘doing what’s best for the organization in the long run’ sort of answer. Yet, if you are an up and coming player who can probably hit .525 this spring and not make the big league roster because of service time issues – seems like something a guy might have an opinion on (or a stock answer, anyway).

That Kendall felt the need to interject himself for whatever reason was idiotic.

@% (In the UK), i definitely prefer 810. Now neither 610 or 810 ever have many good things to say about the Royals but 810 is better in my opinion. The only reason I listen to 610 is because of the Jim Rome Show. Another note, as much as i want to take Wrights side from what i have read and how he sounded, it is hard not to give him some of the blame. He just comes off as a douche, hopefully i can say that.

Seems that most people here are actually sticking up for Kendall. I agree, it seems like a dumb question, and Kendall was calling the reporter out on it. However, if nothing else, ‘Rewind Yourself’ is going to be the name for my fantasy baseball teams this season.

We have a another similar saying over here when someone’s out of line,”behave yourself”,i think i would direct it to Kendall in this instance!

Possibly going off topic but do you guys prefer 610 or 810WHB?

I didnt know 610 existed when i first started getting into the Royals & listening to 810 played a major part to my development as a strong supporter of the franchise so i feel some loyalty to them,the on-line listening experience has gone downhill a bit though IMO due to annoying incessant reminders that i am indeed listening on-line,instead of listening to local adverts which gave me more of a feel of experiencing American culture!

I wish Kendall would have used his veteran leadership and beat Nick Wright’s a$$. I’m sure Mr. Wright will go on his program spewing venom about it, but when you ask dumb questions you better be ready to get called out on them.
