Getz has not played at SS, whereas Aviles plays 3 positions, albeit not well. Aviles stays because of utility, although a platoon would be nice if those guys would just hit a little.

Yost cannot have it both ways. He needs help in the bullpen because Adcock won't last long Saturday, but if he would get out of this one inning and gone mentality when a pitcher is doing well then maybe the bullpen wouldn't be burned up so fast. The constant changing of pitchers also increases the odds that he runs someone out there that doesn't have his best stuff that night. Use non-closer for longer stints if effective! It's not rocket science.

@ Jim (and this is a different Daniel, by the way)

There is nothing...nothing at all...to indicate Getz has value over Aviles. If you want to look at this year's numbers and that's it, fine, but you'd have to include the fact that Aviles, when he has hit, is an extra-base hit machine, while Getz is allergic to them. If you tell me there's going to be a 3-game series and I had to choose between a guy that was going to get a double and a home run vs. a guy that was going to get two singles and a walk, I'm taking the former every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Now, this isn't to say Aviles is a world-beater, but if we're not looking at just this year (and you know...that'd be silly to do that, anyway), then we know Aviles has had two seasons in his last 3 that Getz doesn't even dare dream of having, and one of those seasons was just last year. Getz is a younger guy, but he's missing two tools that don't really "develop": to hit for average and to hit for power. And guess what? Aviles has shown that he has those tools.

I'm sorry, but if you tell me that your opinion is that they're equal players but you'd rather see Getz because you just wanna, then I disagree, but I don't argue with you. But the minute you start trotting out individual plate appearances to support your stance that Getz is a better player, the whole things falls apart for you. "Look what he did last game!" isn't any sort of rebuttal to an intelligent discussion.

Betemit is to hot to send packing, he's been one of the most reliable hiiters in the line up. But I would be willing to send Getz down, Let Moose play 3rd, Betemit seems like a true professional, move him to second for which I'm sure he's talented enough to play. And hope everyone else gets out of this funk!

Dyson is not a major league ballplayer. Smart decision to send him back to AAA, as he is basically just a pinch runner right now, and we have better things to do with our roster.

Also I really wish they would let Crow throw a few more innings. I am not sure why he isn't more willing to let the kid throw 2-3 innings. Until he is seeing batters a second time, I don't see how you can pull him. Louis Coleman is starting to really show some stuff too. I basically don't see a need for Jeffress ever hitting the mound again unless we get another Davies/Mazzaro-esquian night again or we have a 6 run lead.

I don't see a need to call up Moose unless we can trade Betemit. The guy is probably the best hitter on the team right now positionally. A-Rod makes just under 40 jillion dollars a year and his OPS is all of .06 better than Betemit right now. If we can get a legit young #3 or #4 starter out of him, then we can pull that trigger and call up the Moose. Right now there isn't a place for him though.

"Ned Yost. He’s entitled to his own facts."

I'm going to need a link. Funny that Ned would insert Aviles at SS when Escobar came out of the blowout. Avlies has played SS in two games this year and Getz has played SS in ZERO games in his career. Hint: focus on other aspects of your argument--while still wrong they're at least based in defensible opinion/facts.

from Greg Schaum's excellent site:

Stats are down a little and on the left for major prospects.

"Getz has never played a major league game at SS and I’ve never heard anyone aside from you claim that he can."

Ned Yost. He's entitled to his own facts. Another fact is that Aviles is now hitting less than Treanor and barely above Escobar, with fairly steady playing time. He's the odd man out and I think moves in the future will demonstrate that. "Thirty and out" doesn't only apply to models and trophy wives.

"he 2b should be done on a platoon with Getz vs RHP and Aviles vs LHP "

Getz isn't hitting righties either, nor is Gio or Bianchi. That is why we have been losing so much starting with Oakland; RHPs have shut our hitting down, including Butler and Frenchy and Gordon and so on.

The 2b should be done on a platoon with Getz vs RHP and Aviles vs LHP . Aviles is a streak hitter and might catch fire but Getz is what he is. Giovatella or Colon is maybe a Sept callup. 3b is Betemit's until after the Super 2 deadline. Then he goes into a platoon with Butler or straight pinch hitting(or a trade) with Moose taking over 3b permanently. Melky is CF until a trade or injury. Then Cain is the CF for the next few years. When Moose gets here , he goes into the 2 hole ahead or Hosmer. Workable lineup with Gordon LF, Moose 3b, Hosmer 1B, francouer RF, Butler DH Melky CF, Aviles/Getz 2B, Traenor C(hurry up Sal) and Escobar SS. Go Royals
