Beltran was leaving anyway, so the team got some bodies to fill holes, best that could be expected from renting Carlos to Houston for half a season.

“However, Buck did make th ASG, although it was after we waived him and signed Jason Kendall.”

And Buck sucks this year, looking more like the screen door, fear of contact player we had.

@airgoesit – We received 5 players total from the Beltran trade and subsequent Teahen trade. In all, we got John Buck, Mark Teahen, Mike Wood, Chris Getz, and Josh Fields. If you combine their numbers (which I know isn’t the best way to track return value) you get in the 8 years since the trade, 16 HR, 75 R.B.I., .265/.315/.403 with a 93 OPS+. And a pitcher who had 5.28 ERA, 4.6k/9, 3.3BB/9. Very underwhelming, to say the least. However, Buck did make th ASG, although it was after we waived him and signed Jason Kendall.

A current rotation of Paulino, Chen, Francis, Duffy, and Hoch doesn’t seem all that weak.

“Something on the order of 34-37, maybe?”

How ’bout 40-31? I think the team has the talent and needs to eliminate mistakes to be good. The above rotation will be competitive and Hos and Moose will only get better after making adjustments. And that assumes no one is traded and Melky doesn’t become DH with Cain coming up in center.

nicely done. On somewhat related note as we approach the deadline (which apparently the Royals are completely ignoring because our team is awesome according to GMDM), an article came out identifying what the ultimate result of the Carlos Beltran trade was: long story short, ladies and gentlemen, we received Chris Getz for Carlos Beltran.
I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
I would actually be somewhat excited to see a 2nd half rotation of Chen, Duffy, Francis, Hoch and Paulino with Aviles playing full-time 2B. I would argue that team could finish .500 or better through the end of the season.

That last paragraph is what keeps me watching as well. The rest aren’t nearly as inspiring. It is fun to watch Gordon this year and know he feels the confidence that he can hit any ball hard during any count.

What happens first, a Kyle Davies complete game shutout or someone wins the Sonic Slam Inning?
