That was probably one of the better moves he has made.
1. Jose was a cancer that was dragging the whole team down
2. He wasn’t hitting
3. he was a TERRIBLE fielder
I think he has done a great job except for getting good pitching. I have been a Royals fan my entire life and since Kauffman died he has ben the best thing for the Royals. The guy that is holding them back is David cheapass. He is the one that needs to go before they will be able to be successful

Pitching definitely has to be the focus here. We will be fine on defense. I personally think Melky has done a great job in center this year. Do I wish he could get to more balls in the gap… sure who doesn’t, but I think he has done enough to warrant another couple years out there for us. With that being said, I think Lorenzo Cain could be a great player to trade for major league starting pitching. We need major league ready starters and I think we could get a quality starter for Cain. Melky is only 27 its not like he is gonna fall off the face of the planet anytime soon. He still has some quality years ahead of him and I think we could get more in a trade if we offered Cain instead of Melky.

Sounds like you don’t remember my suggested fall off from PCL to AL, but neither is exactly lighting up their leagues. The competition is Colon at about .255 and Bianchi at .260 or Falu in Omaha at around .290.

Getz kept the job because Aviles hit .220 and was a butcher in the field. Gio’s current mid-.250 and defense so poor he needs to be substituted for late shows why he wasn’t called up earlier, certainly not before his two month hot-streak turned him into Kila v2.0. Has little to do with logic or metrics, much to do with what the coaches and scouts see on the field every day. 2B has been a systemic weakness for the Royals, which is why they wasted a high draft pick on Christian Colon, who is starting to look like a bust. With the Navarros there is at least some hope based on the scouting reports.

You probably hadn’t heard that Getz is also the back-up SS, has played a recent game at SS, and pinch runs. We could call him the 3rd middle-infielder. He’s still on the roster at the moment because they don’t have anyone better and I’m not sold on Gio and the organization also isn’t. Given Yam Navarro’s versatility, he could be a possibility next year if Gio can hold the starter job. Three guys for two jobs, competition, something the Royals haven’t had for awhile.

I love Sal. Watch him frame pitches. The glove never moves; it is like an illusion. He needs to improve on pitch selection, but that’s stuff that comes with experience. And that monster 412 ft homer last night gives me hope he will add some pop, too. He already has a good approach. Lots to like. LoCa won’t give us Melky plate production, but he could bat enough for that lead-off spot and give us much needed help in the OF. He would more than make up for the average range of Frenchy and A1. That and I’m not sold on Melky. I would rather sell high than take a gamble on him playing like he did in ATL.

the metrics include everyone who played.

And MFwatt, Pina was known for his defense, not offense. And there was concern about Sals bat, but he had been progressing rather nice with it in the minors before his call up.
