Is Mijares a rubber-arm type of guy, who can make alot of appearances in a short span of time? If so, this looks like a great pickup for a loogy. Royals have seen him alot, so they know what they are getting. A few mph on fastball can be compensated for if he has the qualities already noted.

I believe you mean, "Well played, Mauer"

Also, I contend that the best part of the Gary Carter vid is Harry Carey using the word "plaudits" in proper context. Just amazing.

I agree with the thinking that Mijares is most likely traded at the deadline. His signing seemed a little odd to me in that we have a ton of relief pitchers of better talent. The only thing he brings is competition and a reason to give some guys more time in AAA working on their weaknesses.

The addition of Mijares, Broxton, and Sanchez seems to be what a GM is suppose to do - acquire as much talent as possible - then let the Manager decide in spring training who he wants and for what role. Guys now have to earn their roles - no free passes anymore.

The Twins, more than any club I can think of, make player decisions based on whether a guy "fits" well in the organization. Look at Slowey. Hardy was dogged on by Gardenhire for being injured for too long and the Twins traded him for peanuts. I think Mijares stepped on some toes, not only with the Mauer comments but also with his poor conditioning, and the Twins bailed. Star players are accommodated more than borderline guys, and coming up through the system is always a big factor for the front office (as opposed to coming over through trade or free agency, in which case the Twins organization plays hard to get harder than the residents in a Maine fishing village during tourist season), but in the end, being a company man is rewarded.

That video of carter could have been so much better. It would have been nice to show the whole at bat, and not just one pitch. Also, NOT A SINGLE REPLAY OF THE HIT! That was incredibly lame. I kept waiting, watching him hug everybody (yipee!), thinking for SURE they would replay the hit at least once. Nothing....also, is that Hudler in the other video? What an idiot. He did nothing to win me over. He acted like a complete moron.......On the more positive side, nice writing Craig. You three have put together a excellent, well written series on the 40 man roster. I have enjoyed them all.

Not only did the Kid have a memorable last at-bat, but to have it called by Harry is beyond surreal.

Did Mijares have some injury issues last year? I assume GMDM is hoping for a rebound, then trade him at the break if Kevin Chapman is ready or if Tim Collins shows in Omaha that he can throw strikes and get lefties out. Could even have three lefties, not a bad thing.
