Way to go Royals!!!

Great start to the season even if Angels starters Haren & Santana didnt get into there grove as they would have liked but we pounced early & made them pay & thats all you can do!

The most pleasing thing at the moment is Gordon & Cain havent started yet with the lesser expected hitters like Escobar,Quintero,Getz (.600 BA!!!) etc getting the glory, when the two former players join Hosmer & Butler we are gonna be some potent force.

Keep it up Royals

Sorry, that may have been confusing, especially since I wasn't one of the gang that thought we were going to get shut-out 3 times just because it was the Angels and we had Chen...I couldn't be happier with the start. I'm pleasantly surprised (and a little shocked) that our lead-off hitter went 0 for the weekend and they still scored 13 runs, and our SP decidedly out pitched the top staff in the AL for the series.
Mark it down though, our current BP isn't the gimme we all hoped. They got raked 3 games in a row, in between flashes of competence. Kudos to Ned for having a short leash after Friday.

Chuck, I am completely with you. If some team panicks sooner and offers a bounty, KC should consider it. Bullpen arms are fungible, so move them when they have value. Royals also have an abundance of arms. Check out the Omaha bullpen.

Ted: For what it's worth, Jim Bowden on on the MLB Network picked the Angels to win the West and he considers them the best team in the league. It's a defensible position given the depth and quality of their starting rotation and the addition of Albert Pujols and Kendrys Morales to the lineup. So there are experts who rank the Angels at 1 or alot closer to 1 than 5-7.

Clark - I'm not convinced that Detroit wins that many games this year. Yeah, Cabrera and Fielder look like they are as fearsome as everyone thought they would be together. That said, Boston's pitching is horrible - they picked right up from where they left off last September. And other than Verlander, I'm not sold on the Tiger's rotation or their bullpen. Valverde looked like he was out of gas last postseason, and he's off to a rocky start this year.

The Tigers have enough talent to play winning baseball, and that's what I expect them to do. But 100 wins? 95? 90 even? Not with Scherzer posting a 20+ERA, less than a full season of Fister, and an average effort from Porcello.

Is Anaheim considered a lock for the playoffs? I did not bother to keep up with the expanded playoffs talk, but if the current wild card structure is still in place I would guess the Angels are outside looking in...not to say this wasn't a quality series, I think of Anaheim as the among the fifth-to-seventh best team in the AL (below NY, Bos, Tampa and Texas, competing with Detroit and Toronto for that fifth spot), but I don't see them winning the division, and the AL East teams will be difficult to unseat for the wild card spot.

Anyway, a gratifying beginning to the season, with lots to like. Yes, dreaming on guys like Hosmer and Broxton is a fun way to spend the weekend.
