Isn't knowing which inning he threw the sliders/cutters as important as how often and how effective they were? If he's seeing he same batter a 3rd time and all that batter has seen are FF, won't he want to get him with off speed/breaking stuff that he hasn't seen? You know, get them used to straight and fast then screw up their swing with slow and moving?

That's hilarious. Thanks for the laugh Redunion. Hope Yost doesn't fall under the car and get his Yanker run over. He probably couldn't do that right either.

I'm surprised at how few comments have been posted today. I guess when the Royals win then people have less to complain about and try to place blame on persons or problems. Personally, one win means nothing. The team is still 4-14, or 15 I don't recall. The problems are still there and nothing has changed until Yost is GONE!!!! You don't "teach" muli-millionairres or Professionals how to play. That's what the minors are for. We need a Manager that manages the clubhouse, the media, and make sure the "Pro's" are acting and playing like "Pro's", not a bunch of minor leaguers. Yost should be in the minor's if he wants to "Teach" Pro's how to play Major League Baseball.

Fair enough. Change ups go with the FB, that's not unusual, but I'm surprised at the slider count. Of course last night was the first game I missed until the eighth inning! Appreciate the correction and I hope your right that it's a simple fix.

as usual complete and utter obliviousness as to Danny Duffy, the insane managerial decision that bumped Duffy up to 113 pitches, the physiological reasons behind the injury and the managerial ignorance concerning. airgoesit I will respectfully differ. The #1 Rule (and only rule that matters) with regard to the pitching staff is: never ever do anything with a pitcher unless u r 100% sure the pitcher can do it without injury. U will note that this is a rule through the years which the Royals more observe by avoidance. See John Lamb, Mike Montgomery et. al. It is good that Yost, at least these days, understands the necessity of shutting Duffy down, unlike e.g. what yost did with Gil Meche.

Duffy's start can be skipped, especially if Mendoza gets booted and replaced by Paulino next week. I think our depth is decent at SP, but it is young. Adcock, Odirozzi, Monty, etc. Not to mention that we have Teaford who can move into the rotation. Every team lacks STRONG depth at SP.

I want to believe in Hoch, but I am skeptical. Perhaps, he is maturing. Just maybe. I truly hope. But, if Hoch deviates from a game plan...like he may have done during the home opener, we have to question his maturity. I have no proof that he did that, but I must consider it as a possibility. He can't have much trust in Humberto...hasn't been enough time.

Last night, Hochevar threw six sliders and three changeups in the first inning. In a ten pitch second inning, he threw four more sliders and another change. It would appear from a very quick glance, that Luke did/should go with the slider early. I would wager from my observations that he uses the curveball later in games to give hitters a different look.
