Posters who note injuries are spot on. I am frustrated with this team, too, but if we had some more regulars in the lineup the holes it has would be much smaller. And we might win more high-scoring games.

Who really thinks Myers is a CF? He is about to bust his way onto the roster, but he needs to play every day. Cain needs to be the guy in center for defensive reasons. And to maximize his value for a trade if Myers can play center. But the point remains that I have not read where anyone thinks Myers is a CF. Find a corner spot for him, unless Cain is going to be out for awhile. Then it might be worth it to sacrifice defense.

For those bagging on Melky situation, the end game is still far in the future. Sanchez may still give us some value, which would be nice so he could be flipped for prospects. Verdugo might be a serviceable starter some day. Let’s see where Melky is this time next year.

Chad P – The pitching has not been the problem the last 10 games or so, but it is hard to believe it will hold up and, as I mentioned in the column, if the core group of position players does not produce then the entire Process is doomed. I was kind of writing from the assumption that most of them will eventually hit and then, at that point, what will this team need to be effective over the long haul. I don’t see a rotation built around Chen and Paulino carrying the load for an entire season, hence the long-term need for pitching.

All I’ve been hearing is how the Royals starting pitching is the reason we are in the dumps, but when I look at the last 10 games, its not our pitching, it has consistently been our hitting. In fact, our scoring has sucked all year. Yes, our pitching is bad, but if our hitting even remotely represented what they were hyped up to do, then we’d probably be 30 or four games out of .500 ball. Even if we had two starting pitchers, our hitting has to produce, period.

Also, after watching Gia’s final at bat on Sunday, the guy sucks….period. He does not deserve to be in the majors. What kind of idiot sits on three straight fastballs right up the middle, especially on 0-2 count. Unbelievable!

I can’t think of a team that would need/want Frenchy in a trade – especially since the contract includes next year. It would take a team with playoff ambitions with a string injuries to front line players.

Plus GMDM might have given his word to Frenchy that he wouldn’t be traded – Frenchy wanted to stop moving around every year.

Maybe it’s me, but I don’t understand why we don’t ship Frenchy to a contender for something/anything that has an arm and can throw a reasonable amount of strikes at this point. Call up Meyers and let him play right, keep Dyson/Cain in center and Gordon in left. That trio our most appealing option for the future anyway.

Does Wil Meyers solve the offense is the question. Okay Frenchy Gordon and Hosmer aren’t what we expected, and Melky is tearing through the NL. What if this is what we get from gordon the rest of his career, and Hosmer takes a couple years to get a hold of things? Is Butler Moose Meyers and maybe a little Escobar enough to score the runs needed to contend?

A team that tweets “major announcement” all because they signed their number 1 pick that was 5th overall, isn’t prepared to sign or trade for anyone major. This team will sink or swim with the major players being on this roster. Unless the solar panels are lining Glass with extra funds, you gotta assume he will clutch the wallet and continue to let the losses pile up. With Dayton’s ability to sign and trade for major league talent, you can hardly blame him. If you are gonna play .400 ball regardless, you might as well do it for $40mil than $75. It’s gonna suck seeing Kauffman in all red soon, but the Royals have made their bed.

Wow, I had no idea that suggesting the players I did for a #1-#4 starters would cause such a ruckus, even crack using accusations. Let me clarify what a #1 is to KC: Anyone better than Chen. That list is very long and as cheap as the players I suggested. I did not mean a #1 on the Yankees or Red Sox. I meant a #1 on the Royals or A’s.

Stan – I’ll give ya the ‘Our Time’ marketing strategy. Talk about your all time backfires. They’ve tried to spin it hard to be about the ASG, but still, the damage was done with that one.
And the Moore days are drastically different than the Baird days – where we drafted on signability where now we draft on talent. Can’t go past 2001, but our average minor league ranking under Baird was low20s. That has completely changed under Moore and, again, it does take time for these young guys (who comprised the best farm system EVA) to get acclimated to the league
Plus, let’s not gloss over the losses to injuries we’ve sustained – Perez, Cain, Duffy, Paulino (for half the season thus far), Soria, and on and on. We are currently in double digits for players on the DL. THAT will have an impact on a team that is young and still not fully complete
