KNT: I completely agree. I get this on my RSS feed and constantly think I'm reading a blog written by the Indians fans. I'm not a blind follower of an organization, but to have such apparent animus towards the team, the players and the front office...makes me wonder what exactly is it that makes them fans? Just because they like the powder blue uniforms?

Is it merely enough that there's a stadium, and it's in KC, and, well, I like KC so I like the team? I'm sure they would say it's exactly because of their love for the team that they are so negative...that they just want to see the team do better. I call that BS. They are a negative group that gets to reaffirm their viewpoint by being around other negative people...but like you said, KNT, among most fans, this site is a joke.

As for me and mine, I'm excited about the Royals, not because they are going all the way, or contending, but because I love the team, and their games are great to watch. A great group of young players out there doing (mostly) their best to make something happen, guys that care and work hard. Are they sometimes hamstrung by bad play, bad pitching, bad hitting, and bad front office decisions? Sure, but what team in what sport isn't occasionally?

This website without a doubt has the most negative group of followers I have ever seen. I would say that it probably starts at the top with the idiot writing the columns. Who, as per his own admission, does not watch all the games; that you mentioned this tidbit erodes your credibility. Although, I must say that among more refined fans, this websites credibility is nonexistant.

"Nick and many other Royal Authority commenters are like dog looking at bone in water..."

Guys, I know this site is more about reasonable analysis than it is being a homer, but I agree with Matt, C'MON, get a little excited!!!...

We just took 5 out of 6 from the 2011 NLCS teams.

Since the 12 game losing streak, the Royals had the FOURTH BEST record in the A.L., before the loss to Houston anyway. Before anyone comes back with a "You can always pick a date to make someone look better or worse...", can't possibly youth be factored in?

How many games in a row had Milwaukee won when leading after the seventh inning? Wasn't it something in the 50-60 range? Royals ended that with a punctuation mark!

Royals scored as many earned runs yesterday against Brett Myers as he had given up the ENTIRE season previously.

I think Dayton's trades have been pretty decent so far, and should be broken down more like this:

Callaspo for O’Sullivan and Smith - Too early to tell. Smith has had troubles, but he's young. He was the big piece. Callaspo has done nothing for Angels, and would be on bench this year behind Moose.
DeJesus for Mazzaro and Marks - Probably a bust, but not like we lost much w DeJesus. OF is full now waiting for Meyers.
Melky for Sanchez - You forgot Verdugo as well. However, pretty much a bust, but we had to let Cain play.
Betemit for Cruz and Rodriguez - Like Callaspo, what did we lose by trading him. Grabbed a couple of solid minor players. Wait and see.
Aviles for Navarro and Volz - See Betemit.
Navarro for Pounders and Goris - See Aviles.
Greinke for Escobar, Cain, Odorizzi and Jeffress - Zack would be costing us a bank and a half right now. Meanwhile we landed a SOLID SS. A top pitching prospect and two guys who have hit the majors. All while rumors swirl Zack may come back. Even if he doesnt, we couldnt keep him. At least we stocked a team from him and now MIL is regretting it.
You also forgot getting Collins and Blanco for Farnsworth and Ankiel. Two rent a players for a shut down lefty. Thats a win...

Overall, I think your frustrated with the trades bc there are no names. Throw out Zack and they are all rent a players, half of which barely play now. We dont miss them (except for Melky and Zack) and have loaded our farm with players from them. No team is gonna drop an All-Star for Ankiel or Betemit.

The Greinke trade will move into the "good" column if Odorizzi, Cain, or Jeffress ever work out. I do like Escobar a lot. If, as you say, we had no reasonable expectation of receiving decent players in return, then why trade them? There is a long list of teams that need hitters and have pitchers--Tigers, A's, Rays, Mariners, Padres, Giants, Braves, Pirates, Phillies. All of these teams could have used a package of Melky, Betemit, and Aviles.
Oh yeah, what decent trades did I leave out?

I still like the Greinke trade. Odorizzi and Escobar could make this a great trade for us even if Cain and Jeffress never produce at the ML level.

Also, a good many of those trades are of the "meh" variety, as in, we had not reasonable expectation of receiving decent players in return.

And you left out some pretty decent trades.
