what about the rookies, do they stay on their miner league deal through 2011 since they aren’t mentioned on the roster total, and if so wont they effect the 2012 active roster salary? (hosmer, moose, giovetella, perez, rookie bullpen.)

You may notice that the payroll declined by almost $40 million. This is because of the plethora of young players coming into the major league ranks over the next few years. This frees up alot of space for the Royals to do something they almost never do: sign young stars to long-term contracts. If you’re going to commit to a youth movement, then commit all the way. This is what Dayton Moore has done, and it will pay dividends when the Royals end up in the playoffs over the next few years. We have seen where spending big money in free agency gets us: in a bunch of trouble. This team is setting itself up for the future by signing smart, cheap free agents and committing to young players.

jason kendal is the second highest paid player on the team! everytime i see that I scream. If he is healthy he is not worth a $1m. Until the owners learn to make good moves and spend more the Royals will suck. Lets face it if a player becomes a true star the Royals will trade him! I love this team and the players but you cant win if loosers are making the desicions!
