Moore's behavior during the last 24 hours has me much more concerned. The way this has been handled is an embarassment for this organization. Dayton Moore- unprofessional is too kind, this guy doesn't get it. He has not a clue as to what was lacking in Hillman as a manager. If he's so broken up about this and as a good Christian feels he is responsible for Hillman's failure then should he not do the right thing and resign himself? If not then shut up and do your job, you and your bff are not as important as the organization and it's fan base. They haven't learned a thing from any of this.

Heaven forbid the Glass family would "meddle". Their time, energy, trouble, and money. Our team, I guess the thinking goes.

Hillman imo, for his individual class act, lacked the knowledge and intuitiveness to connect the dots as to what goes into winning in athletics. The latest photos show a team grossly out of physical condition compared to the opposition. The manager preached skills that obviously he was unable to convey. Hillman completely lacked imagination in terms of recognizing player skills and potential. If you are going to win in this market, is recognition by GMDM that you must have a manager with these abilities:

1. conditioning--why would the Royals be anything but the best conditioned team in the league?
2. able to teach and get skills.
3. Understanding exercise physiology and its role in keeping pitchers, players (Crisp, Aviles) healthy.
4. Be possessed of basic recognition--who'se got talent, who'se got it today. etc. etc.

Hillman had none of this. I am at a loss how he fared in Japan. Yost. Agreed. Seems more of the same and a GM who lacks the same abilities.

You can say you don't think Yost is right for the job all you want, but shall we address the elephant in the corner? What guy in the world who CAN manage would want this job? The GM is incapable of assembling a big league roster and gives the manager no chance to win. Zippo. And today he says The Process will take 8-10 years!? Tell that to the fans of the '97 and '03 Marlins. Tell that to the Rays' fans. That's crap. No baseball man in his right mind would take this job.

Was Moore really crying in that press conference? Wow. Makes this seem even more like a decision from the Glass family. If so, I am with Craig, having the owner more involved is probably not a good thing, and it certainly sends a strong message that Dayton Moore is now on the hot seat.

I would like to feel bad about all this, I really would. Hillman seems like a quality guy, and Dayton seemed like such a good fit for the Royals. But I am so fed up with this front office that I wouldn't mind seeing every single one of them axed.

Hillman had to go for the reasons stated above. As usual the last person to spot the obvious was GMDM.

It is a lateral move since we simply don't have the talent to compete at almost any level. John McGraw couldn't get this group of players to .500.

In pointing out Yost's misadventures in his prior managerial stint I recall Joe Garagiola's old line about hiring unsuccessful managers: "Yeah, he's got experience, but it's bad experience."

I'm OK with Ned Yost as long as we're viewing this as a 127 audition. I don't really want him to be handed an extension before the end of the year. If he shows that he's learned from his time with the Brewers and turns this team around a little bit, then he's probably earned a couple more seasons. If this team keeps on at the same pace they are right now, then he did his job this season and everyone can move on without him being "fired".

I don't expect that Ned Yost has changed too much from what he was before, but I'm willing to give him a chance with this team. I don't think he can screw anyone up too bad...
