That’s a great point, Abh. It is amazing how the mentally of a team changes on getaway day. I suppose it’s human nature.

Writer from Boston Globe notes Red Sox are interested in Aviles, among others, because “If Epstein makes a move, he’ll be looking for a player who will have value elsewhere on the field when Pedroia returns to second base.” Wouldn’t Bloomy fit that same criteria? Royals would ask for much less for him, and if Royals move Aviles they must really believe that Colon is very close to majors (or that irrational belief that Yuni is a longer-term answer).

mlbtraderumors also notes that Padres were interested in Eric Patterson until he was dealt to Sox. Would Pads be interested in Bloomy, who would seem to be a great fit in the NL? That would be a nice low-cost move for such a low-cost team.

In all this hullabuloo about Banny’s day/night splits I can’t believe no one ever talks about how nearly all day games (for the royals) are sundays or get-away days… generally speaking the days where the veterans/all-stars/best players generally get their days off, and swing-away-get-out-of-town seems to be the rule. Those games seem to often be two and a half hours or even less. I could see that combination being beneficial to Banny, especially ground-ball Banny…

Spot on Craig about the split with Bannister,who can forget that awfull innings against the Yankees? Wasnt that double digits? It certainly was a day game anyhow i was having my evening tea!

Kila should be the priority call up over Gordon,especially with the plethora of options in outfield & Butler GIDP’s for fun!

Dangit Craig, the Royals have made clear that everyday playing time is reserved for aging vets who provide something approaching minimal value. Why can’t you get on board with this organizational philosophy?

Wayland – I would absolutely love to have Gordon and Ka’aihue up ASAP with the dead weight moved. Pods and Guillen are not part of the future. We know this. It’s not up for debate. So, we need to find out about Alex and Kila. This is now the second “Lost Season” in a row for Gordon. The Royals need to bring them up and give them the Kendall treatment – play them every single day.

Guillen: it seems pretty obvious that they are riding Guillen’s streak and playing him in the field, all while crossing their fingers and hoping that he looks acceptable out in the field to make him a little more attractive to NL clubs as the deadline approaches. I don’t see how they don’t pull the trigger on a trade for him. Even if you don’t get too much and have to eat most of his salary, he could appeal to some teams and we HAVE to make the move.

Pods: I wonder if there is any market for him as the deadline approaches. I’d really like to see Gordon get another crack this season.

Banny: Not sure if the Cubs would look at him, but with all the day games that they play, those splits could look attractive to them. They don’t need any starting pitching though unless they move some guys, and if they move some guys, they would be sellers and probably not looking to buy a guy like Banny.

I was talking with a guy at work the other day and I said that I would like to see Guillen and Pods moved and Gordon and Kila take their spots on the roster. He disagreed and said that he would like to see Gordon finish the season out in Omaha and learn to play left. I said that our production should not drop off and maybe could even improve if those moves were made. . . Any thoughts on that?

Maybe Banny just performs worse at 7pm than at 1 or 2pm. Maybe he can sleep in 5 hours later on night games so that his mind and body are tricked into thinking it’s 2pm, but just a little darker out.

I noted the same thing on Guillen. Why have him running around in the outfield if he’s going to use blisters as an excuse? Yes a blister could affect performance, but why make it worse by having him play in the field.

More on excuses front: I just hope Banny doesn’t gush about hangovers like he did after Cincy start. Sometimes guys just don’t have it, but if team needs you to eat innnings, then you do it. It’s not like he threw 120 pitches, or had to pitch on 3 consecutive days.

I still think Kendall should have rest like other catchers in baseball, but it’s nice to see him throw some runners out, too.
