Thanks for the explanation Nick, and yes it makes good sense. I understand why you use it. Interested to see the year to year differences. Gives a good guide to look if we are improving at specific positions or regressing.

hi andrew, yes, I did these last year at www.brokenbatsingle.com.

sops+ is explained in the catchers post. the s stands for split in this case position. OPS+ normalizes the OPS and puts it in a form where 100 is roughly average. sops+ instead of taking all of the league, it just looks at that split. so a 100 sops+ means an average right fielder if we're looking at RF, CF for CF...etc. That way we aren't comparing catchers to third basemen offensively. Make sense?

That really shows you how great of a season Dejesus was having before he got hurt. While he was healthy he was the number 3 or 4 rightfielder in the AL last season. I wonder what kind of haul we could have gotten for him had he remained healthy. Frenchy will be a OBP downgrade, but if he can bring up the SLG he might be an offensive wash from what the team did in the past season. Nick, did you do positional analysis in any previous years? Where can I read about sOPS+? Not sure what the s means.
