New rule for Hochevar…after the second run of the inning scores, pull him…regardless of pitch count or inning. Granted last night that might have only saved one run as the second run of the inning was the first of a three run shot but that will not always be the case. We all knew the next HR would happen. This is getting is getting ridculous and he needs some serious mental coaching.

Also glad to see Falu getting the start today at SS. Esky needs a break once in a while so he stays sharp. Jim and I have been plugging Falu for quite some time. Agree with Dan that 2 mill could have been saved by not resigning Yuni.

Also like Dan’s point about putting Hoch in the pen. Should also consider a DL and rehab assignment to get him right. Pine Tar Press thinks he might be tipping pitches again. If Hoch goes, I wonder if Adcock should be promoted to rotation. If Royals really believe he is a prospect, you don’t want to waste a 2nd year pitching infrequently. Last year he had to be on the roster. This year he should be starting here or starting in Omaha. Mendoza has to stay on roster because he is out of options, although he is not really a prospect.

Hoch’s ERA is now 9.00 for 2012, and 5.37 for career. The Royals can’t keep sending him out there. Most of his starts, he seems to have plenty of good innings with one really bad inning — which tells me he hasn’t learned how to pitch out of trouble.

If they want to save his long term career, they should put him in the bullpen like they did Greinke for one season. Let him pitch an inning or two every other day and see if he can learn how to finish off an inning. I would think Crow would be a better starter now having spent time in the bullpen – learning how to pitch.

Glad to see Falu have a good game with his family in the stands. He seems talented enough to be the utility guy – so why did the Royals have to sign (not-really-a-utility-guy) Yuni for $2M when they could have used Falu in that role? That’s Royal Thinking…

Who doesn’t believe that Moose will be the leader of this clubhouse by the end of the year? The guy has it written all over his face. He wants to win–and convert the mentality of our franchise–more than anyone on that team. I would work to sign him long term harder than I would for Hosmer. Maybe I am stupid…
